How to read the table

Each row is the fee on a single sale, before sales tax or VAT, before refunds and disputes, and before any currency conversion fee when your payout currency differs. Each part of a fee is rounded to the cent, the same way the platforms bill it.

The last column matters as much as the fee. Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy and Stripe Managed Payments act as merchant of record, so they collect and file sales tax and VAT for you. Plain Stripe and PayPal leave that to you. Payhip collects US sales tax and EU/UK VAT on its own checkout; the details are in the platform comparison.

Payhip's paid plans charge a monthly price on top of per-sale fees: Plus is $29 a month with a 2% fee, Pro is $99 a month with none. The calculator spreads that price over the sales per month you enter, so a low-volume store sees the real cost of upgrading. Gumroad charges 30% on sales that come through its Discover marketplace instead of its usual fee; that row covers card and PayPal alike.

What is not included

Gumroad lists PayPal fees as separate from its own fee but does not publish the rate, so for PayPal buyers its direct-sale row shows Gumroad's fee only.
